Keith Moon died on this day, September 8th, 30 years ago.
It is easy to say he is missed dearly.
It is harder to say how much he is missed. It is so damn hard to put into words.
And maybe I'm slow on the up rise, but today hit me like a slap on the face. It was just like "Hey man, your idols; they're dead or dying."
But maybe they're not dying. Maybe it's people like me and Sarah and Alex and Grace and so many of you that keep them alive. Maybe they know how much they're missed.
He was a phenomenal drummer and his music still lives on.

RIP Keith

This may not be anything to you.
But it's everything to me.
And my lack of words inhibits my writing. I am sorry.
I don't even think you can call this a piece of writing, but it means a lot to me.
Maybe I'll submit something phenomenally worded later, but right now I'm to sad.

I know the feeling. I'm young, of course, and so far, in the past three years, His ability to play, unlike anyone before him, and to set what is the preset for being an amazing rock drummer, has changed my life.
I took up the drums because of the Who.
I've decided that now, I'm going to go into musical career because of the Who.
Keith Moon is missed, and will be missed, even by those who were never there to see him themselves. he'll be missed for what he's done.

There's this one picture I have of him, and it really was the turning point that made me write this.
I never actually imagine him as dead, you see. He's a part of my everyday life, so his death is something that doesn't strike me.
But when I saw the picture, all that I wanted to do was lay down and cry.
I'm like that with many people, though. I still don't acknowledge the death of Richard Wright from Pink Floyd, even though it happened so long ago.

Ah, you play drums?
I do, as well. For a while, I was one of the only girl drummers at the School of Rock, unlike you, though, I was inspired by Ringo Starr.

That's funny I played at school of rock for a while. I was stuck in a Grateful Dead show because of scheduling conflicts, and because I was switching drum teachers, I could not join the Who show.

I only started listening to rock music in general about 2 and a half years ago, primarily being introduced through The Jimi Hendrix Experience and the Who. The who is actually the only band(other then the beatles, everyone knows the Beatles) that I knew from when I was small (like 6 or so). Mitch Mitchell and Keith really play the biggest roles as my influence as a drummer. I find Keith just has this musical quality to the drums that alot of others don't, making what was a rhythm instrument into a lead instrument. I find not many of my friends though just see the overall astoundingness of his playing.

I started in our Zeppelin show; I've been going there for about a year and a half, but I came right after the Who show, so I missed it.

I've been listening to Rock and Roll for a long time. I started listening to the Beatles when I was 5. My first movie that I ever watched was Tommy. Not a good choice on my father's side of choosing movies, but hey, it got me into music. Mitch has played a big part in my life, as well. Really, though, my two biggest influences would have to be Nick Mason (the drummer for Pink Floyd) and Ringo Starr.
I agree with you on the amazing sound that Keith was able to produce out of his drums. My father always used to say, "Well, look at that, the lead guitarist of the Who isn't actually a guitar player." I always liked that quote, even if I was never close to my father.

as I've heard throughout the internet "In the Who, They had two guitarists, John Entwistle on lead, and Pete Townshend on rhythm"(paraphrasing, of course) because John was the lead guitarist, even if it was a bass guitar.
